After scouring Tumblr for the hottest new nail designs this is what I have found for summer 2012. Nail art is showing up everywhere and these designs are hotter than the Miami sun! The featured image is a simple twist on a french manicure. By using sparkly blue polish for your tips you can really spice up your nails. Try adding a single diamond accent for even more flair. Use scotch tape to get a straight line if you don’t have a steady hand.
This cloudy rainbow nail design reminds me of summers in Orlando. After the icky rainstorms you can sometimes catch a beautiful rainbow. Paint all of your nails a sky blue shade and let them dry. Next use a white polish to create little puffs of clouds on all but one finger nail. Take a nail art pen or brush in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple to create rounded lines stacked on top of one another to form a rainbow. You can use rounded stickers if you want to get a perfectly even edge. Finish off with a clear polish.
These nails are super cute and summery. They are very easy to do and definitely add some style. Paint all of your nails a bright blue shade and let them dry. If you want to change it up a bit you can go with any bright color you prefer. Pinks, purples, greens, and oranges would all look nice under these daisies. After your nails are dry, use a white polish to swoop little petals in circles all over your nails. After the white dries, add spots of yellow in the center of the circles with a dotting tool. Top off your design with a clear coat and you are good to go.
There are so many things you can do with these nails. You can do just a watermelon or a strawberry on one nail or you can do them on all of your nails. Mix up the designs to get your own funky combination. If you want your nails to look like these pick out a muted pink shade and paint all of your nails and let them dry. Create yellow lines with a nail art brush on the strawberry nails and black lines on the watermelon nails. Use a nail art brush to create a jagged green line on the tips of the strawberry nails and a straight line on the watermelon nails. Let them dry and then use a lime green to add definition to the tips of the strawberry nails and to create a straight line under the green tips of the watermelon nails. Next, create straight vertical lines on the green tip of the watermelon nails with the lime green polish. Finish up by creating a white line under the lime green line on the watermelon nails and coat all of your nails with a clear polish.
Cheetah print nails are all over the place, but this pink combo is the perfect pop of color for the summer. Coat all of your nails with a light pink color and let them dry. Then, come in with a deeper pink. Use a nail art pen or dotting tool to create cheetah spots all over. Cover your nails with a clear coat to add shine.
These lacy delights are better left to airbrushing or nails decals, but if you are feeling brave you can use a nail art brush. Coat your nails with a bright coral or orange nail polish and let them dry. Either use nail decals or a nail art pen in silver to create a frilly design. Coat with clear polish to finish.
This nail design might be somewhat tricky so you should simplify it by coating your nails diagonally with a jade polish and with a lime green polish. After the polish has dried you can come back in with a nail art brush to make a squiggly line with an aqua blue polish. This will be the quickest and easiest way to achieve this design.
I just love this design and it couldn’t be any simpler. I just saw pre-made press-ons at the Premiere Orlando show just like these. All you have to do is coat your nails with a bubble gum pink, let them dry and then apply a glittery pink polish on top. If you want more sparkles you can sprinkle clear or white loose glitter on top of the wet coat. To add shine, polish your nails with a clear coat and let them dry.
Ok, ok. So this is pushing it just a little bit but I couldn’t resist sharing this with you guys. This Little Mermaid inspired nail set is super summery and fun to look at.
